Development of Bilateral Control System

Japanese

Chinese

Bilateral control is a control method (master-slave) that uses two devices of same structures where one becomes a control terminal (master) and the other one act as an operation terminal (slave). In unilateral control system, complex task cannot be performed as commands can only be sent from master to slave terminal (Left, top figure). However, in bilateral control, it is possible to operate master from the slave terminal as work instructions can be sent from slave to master terminal too. Thus the complex task (dangerous and bad working environment) can be performed.

Applications

Space robot, industrial remote robot, and rescue robot
